Pilates is an extremely fulfilling job for people who enjoy people contact, learning about the body ongoing and applying learned knowledge in a considered and intelligent way.

There is a major shortage of qualified Pilates Instructors in the ACT and country NSW, with Pilates Canberra continually being contacted to supply both equipment qualified (Certificate IV graduates) and Matwork qualified (the Matwork Accreditation graduates) for gyms and businesses throughout the ACT and the Riverina NSW.

The Pilates IV in Pilates Instruction (NSW91121) is now recognised as the respected minimum requirement for effective Pilates Instructors across Australia, and Pilates Canberra is the exclusive Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for the delivery of this qualification in the ACT.

The Certificate IV in Pilates Instruction (NSW 91121)

This Certificate IV is designed to reflect the role of Pilates Instructors who operate in a professional and specialised studio environment and work with low risk (apparently healthy) client groups.

This qualification is seen as entry level into the insured, respected and qualified Pilates Industry Body (the Pilates Alliance of Australasia - PAA) and is suitable for those who wish to work in a private, semi-private or group environment. Successful graduates are eligible for level 1 full membership with the Pilates Alliance of Australia, and are sort after as well-trained and fully qualified on graduation.

Registrations for each course close 1 week prior to the commencement of the course.

All 2008 Continuing Education events have wrapped up for external Pilates Instructors for 2008; however as Lanette Gavran continues her role as the Continuing Education Officer for the Pilates Alliance of Australasia, the Events for 2009 will be available on this web-site as they are confirmed.

2009 appears to be an exciting year for visiting Pilates Instructors of note and a well coordinated smorgasbord of Australian Pilates Presenters of significance. So, watch this space!

NEW FUNCTIONAL PHYSIOLOGY AND ANATOMY COURSES:

Pilates Canberra presents a Functional Anatomy and Physiology course commencing early January, and finishing by late January.

It is a prerequisite for the Cert IV course to have completed an anatomy and physiology course covering anatomy of cells, muscles, bones and joints. In the past we have found that some anatomy and physiology courses do not address all the components relevant to Pilates instruction or requirements for movement instruction. Our course will address all the necessary components and will efficiently prepare the student for participating and understanding the Cert IV course.

The course will consist of 15 contact hours spread over three weeks. The dates are as follows:

Wed 7th, 14th and 21st of January from 5:30pm – 8pm

Fri 9th, 16th and 23rd of January from 6pm – 8:30pm

The cost is $375 for the entire course and will include all handouts, reading and workbooks.

Vince Consentini: Soft Tissue Therapist and Education Co-coordinator for Physical Therapies at the Australian Institute of Sport. Vince is a respected body-worker who has created and presented courses in anatomy and physiology and massage at CIT.
