Meet The Team
Pilates Canberra Instructors have foundation Pilates education through PilatesITC, so we all speak the same Pilates language.
We undertake regular continuing education from leading educators in Pilates, nationally and internationally. This information informs our work and keeps us on point with our clients.

Director and Creator of Pilates Canberra: Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method, TAE, RAPP member
I started teaching Pilates in 1995 after commencing studies in 1993. I have studied Pilates with a variety of schools culminating in the Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method through PilatesITC.
I have opened Pilates studios across Canberra and by building the only Pilates specialist registered training organisation in Canberra, I have trained many of the Pilates Instructors who now own their own studios or teach around Australia.
From 2011 until 2019 I was a co-director of PilatesITC and proud to be a Director of the most progressive Pilates specialist training organisation in the world for eight years. After helping to establish a relationship between PilatesITC and the University of Canberra, I became the first student to articulate from the Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method to an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science; study that I still continue part time.
I share my time between instructing private clients, staff and other Pilates instructors and teaching professional development workshops and classes around Australia. I work with my wonderful team to build relationships between Pilates Canberra and healthcare and Allied Health professionals in Canberra for the benefit of our shared clients - to help all clients to achieve their health goals.
My greatest inspiration is the work of Sally Anderson - as she is interested in the scientifically based work to progress our health and lives through movement.
My other greatest inspirators are Deborah Lessen who fought for us to call what we teach as “Pilates” all the way to the US Supreme Court; helped inspire and create the PMA; and is the gateway to the work of Carola Trier.
Finally, the lovely Blossom Leilani Crawford who is the gate-keeper of Pilates Elder Kathy Grant’s work, and also working to further the independent and logical thinking of Pilates instructors.
Let’s enjoy movement and health NOW and into our advancing age…..

Senior Instructor: Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method, Booty Barre and Buff Bones Instructor
I originally came to Pilates almost a decade ago to reclaim my health and fitness from a back injury and a sedentary lifestyle. After discovering the amazing benefits Pilates brought to my life, my passion grew and culminated into a desire to pass these benefits onto others. Seeing clients break free of pain, strengthen their bodies, improve their flexibility and overall health is what drives me as instructor, as it connects with my own personal health journey. I approach Pilates in the same way I do everything else in life; with passion, enthusiasm and commitment and hope I am able to pass this on through my instructing.
In my spare time I enjoy doing all things active and outdoors - weight training, running, kayaking, and going for motorbike rides with my partner.
I love fresh mangoes and zombie movies, goofing around with our dogs and cats, spending time with my family and friends, and catching up on sleep wherever I can (including at the hairdresser!).

Senior Instructor: Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method, TAE
I came to Pilates instruction from an office background. I had always enjoyed the method, having done various forms of Matwork Pilates off sporadically and in 2008 I decided to further my knowledge by undertaking the Diploma with Lanette at Pilates Canberra. It was through my study that my passion for Pilates grew and I knew that this was my career path.
Shortly after moving to Sydney in 2010, I left the office world to teach Pilates full time at Pilates International. While teaching is my passion, my government background and PR degree, lead me in the same year to add the role of Training Manager for PilatesITC. This gave me the opportunity to involved with the education of Pilates instructors and greater insight into the Pilates Method and application of Pilates exercises to address specific needs.
During my time with PilatesITC I worked closely with Lanette, a director of the company, and the company founder Sally Anderson who is recognised as one of the top practitioners in the industry. I also upgraded my qualification to the Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method. To date I still work with Sally Anderson developing the accredited courses, continuing education programs and other resources for the Pilates industry. I returned to Canberra in 2016, after the birth of my second child, and back to Pilates Canberra.
As an instructor I always want my clients to feel stronger, move more freely, find balance and feel more connected with themselves. Everybody is different and have different needs, but Pilates is for everybody.

Diploma of Professional Pilates (currently studying the Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method) and Barre Attack Instructor
Having competed internationally as a figure skater for several years, I turned professional and experienced over ten years on the road performing in ice shows as a principal skater and aerialist. During this time I was fortunate to tour across several continents and aboard numerous cruise ships. Through this journey I realised the added benefits of Pilates within my personal fitness routine; where it gave me a better awareness of my body, made me stronger and ultimately assisted in preventing injuries.
In 2017, I gained a matwork certification through PilatesITC, and a certificate in Barre Attack as well. This year I’ve hung up the skates, trading the showgirl feathers for grippy socks, and joined Pilates Canberra and Hale Gym. I’m instructing both matwork and barre as well as studio clients. I’m excited and motivated by the opportunity to help others pursue in their fitness and wellbeing goals.

Senior Instructor: Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method, Buff Bones Instructor, TAE
Pilates became an integral part of my life after debilitating pain had a significant impact on my work and family. It was part of the solution to ensuring a return to an active, enjoyable lifestyle that includes time with my gorgeous granddaughter.
I knew Pilates was going to be part of my ongoing health and wellbeing and with my love of teaching people of all ages, it was an obvious step to be an instructor.
In 2010, I completed my Matwork certification. In 2013, I completed my Diploma of Pilates to become a studio instructor. I have since furthered my knowledge with my Buff Bones Certification and in 2018, I completed my Advanced Diploma. I have completed my TAE in 2019 and joined the PilatesITC faculty to teach others becoming Pilates instructors.
Pilates inspires me: it focuses the mind and body to create movement that is functional, challenging and restorative. I love sharing with clients the journey on which Pilates takes the individual.

Senior Instructor: the Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method, the Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction and Buff Bones Instructor
I came to Pilates teaching from a fitness instructing background, looking for a movement method that was complementary to other forms of exercise and that had potential for long term practice. Indeed, practising Pilates likely saved me from serious injury from prolonged heavy duty fitness instruction.
I started my Pilates studies in 2004 with Matwork, and in 2011 extended into studio equipment with the Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction and now have completed the Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method - the highest Pilates specific government recognised qualification in the world.
I also hold Buff Bones certificate, which is a bone health specialisation. Teaching the Pilates method, whether on a mat or in the studio, gives me the privilege of witnessing the benefits for clients, which is extremely rewarding.

Having lived in Canberra for over 25 years, I think I am almost considered a local ! I have worked in the health sector and managed several exciting projects that have provided better health outcomes for all Australians.
I have been fortunate to enjoy an active life and participate in many forms of sports both team orientated and individual. In the recent years, with our children grown up my husband and I have become avid hikers enjoying the local mountains in our district and the Namadji and Kosciuszko National parks. While hiking is great and provides fitness, fresh air and fun I knew I needed to find my next physical challenge.
After returning from a holiday ‘walking across England’, I was encouraged to try Pilates. After training for a short time I knew this was for me, feeling stronger and fitter than I had felt for some time, I undertook the Diploma in Professional Pilates Instruction through PilatesITC.
I feel incredibility fortunate to work in the Pilates industry, helping clients restore strength and mobility in their bodies using the Pilates Method.

I am a dance instructor and have been running my own business in the snowy Mountains for the last 25 years. I have always enjoyed Pilates as it is a complimentary exercise method to dance.
During Covid I had time to reflect and felt I needed to diversify and expand my skills. The Diploma in Pilates Instruction seemed to be the perfect and logical choice as I could apply my new skills to my business.
I completed my Diploma in Professional Pilates Instruction through Pilates ITC in 2021 initially to complement my dance instruction and in addition am now working as a studio instructor for Pilates Canberra. I love my time in the Pilates studio, getting to know the clients and seeing the benefits they get from the instruction.

I’m originally from Germany and after living in the UK for a couple of years, I decided to make Australia my new home and moved to beautiful Canberra. I first encountered Pilates during my studies in Germany where it helped me get through stressful times at uni. From the first moment Pilates was more than just a physical form of exercise for me. The breathing, focus, concentration and precision during the sessions helped me to connect my mind and body. Besides the mental effects Pilates these days is my version of a painkiller, it keeps me strong and healthy.
I have always had a big passion for sport and fitness, having played European handball and gymnastics since a young age. In 2019, after a career as an educator and teacher, I decided to make my passion for movement, health and wellbeing my profession and began working in the fitness industry.
In 2021, I did my first certification as a Reformer Pilates instructor. I fell in love with the method which is why I started my Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction shortly after with NPT and Pilates Canberra. Studying with and learning from the best in the field just made my passion, curiosity and thirst for knowledge even bigger. I am dedicated and committed to the Pilates method and cannot imagine any better job.
What I love most about my job is building strong and meaningful connections with all different kinds of people and supporting them on their way to reaching their own health and fitness goals. There is nothing better than seeing clients becoming pain free, getting stronger, more mobile and feeling comfortable in their bodies. I want to share the benefits of movement and the holistic approach of the Pilates method with as many people as possible.

I discovered Pilates after a series of knee and ankle injuries. It played a crucial role in my rehabilitation, restoring pain free movement, and it now helps me to maintain an active lifestyle without restriction.
The urge to continue learning and help others experience the benefits of Pilates drove me to complete the Diploma in Professional Pilates Instruction.
I am passionate about supporting clients on their Pilates journey, helping them to break free from pain, increase strength and mobility, and improve their general health and well being
